Car Rental
Hiring a car is easy, often you can book in advance with most of the international operators (eg. Avis, Hertz, Alamo) or book them at major airports and train stations. However, Car Parking in Central London is expensive so only hire if you plan to explore the outskirts of London or further afield. Remember that the Central London Congestion Charge operates Mon-Fri 7am-6.30pm. A £5 charge is payable if you drive into the zone during these times. See www.cclondon.com for more details and to pay the charge Car ParkingOn street car parking is very difficult and free parking is very rare, mostly you will have to use meters or pay and display to park your car for maximum periods of 2 hours. Off street car parking is safer but is also expensive. If you need a car consider staying out side the Centre of Town.
